The Volumetric Spotlight is a procedural lighting system that creates procedurally-driven volumetric lighting - like spotlights - with blockers, barn doors, gels (in the Distribution pin) and more. This light type is a core feature of the Spectron procedural lighting system and can be use for quick volumetric effects and spotlight generation (Figure 1).

Volumetric SpotLight Parameters

Throw Distance - The distance from the origin of the light source that the volumetric light will reach.

Cone Width - The width of the volumetric light's cone.

Cone Hardness - Determines the softness/hardness of the light cone's edge.

Light Medium - By default a Scattering Medium node is connected as the light medium type. Please refer to the Scattering Medium topic for more details regarding its parameters.

Emitter Material - The material parameters consist of basic Diffuse material parameters. The only parameters in this category that will affect the light source can be found in the Emission rollout. By default a Texture Emission node is connected as the emission type. A Black Body can be used as well. Please see their respective topics for parameter details.

Barn Doors Material - A Diffuse material is connected by default to control the surface characteristics of the barn door geometry.

Object Layer - Provides standard Object Layer parameters to control render visibility and light pass options.

Light Transform - Provides standard transformation controls for placement and orientation of the light source.

Barn Doors

Enable Barn Doors - Enables or disables the barn door feature.

Barn Door Size - Determines the size of the barn doors.

Barn Door 1-4 Angle - Determines the angle for each of the four barn doors.
