Octane's Neural Radiance Cache (NRC) allows for faster noise reduction through the use of a neural network that is trained at render time. It can be especially useful in scenes with indirect lighting where many rays might not reach the camera. NRC works best with the Path Tracing and Photon Tracing kernels. NRC can be activated under the Quality rollout for the kernel parameters (figure 1). It is also available with the Direct Lighting kernel, however, its results will not be noticable unless the Global Illumination Mode is set to Diffuse

In figure 2, Path Tracing with Neural Radiance Cache enabled is on the left. Rendered to 500 samples with no denoising. The image on the right is rendered without NRC to 500 samples and no denoising. There is a noticable difference in the amount of noise between the two images. Additionally, the image on the left took 3 seconds to render and the image on the right took 6 second.
