The OctaneRender® material system is constantly evolving, and periodically the user interface will receive updates to account for this evolution. The Standard Surface has been added to the mix, and is available via its own Standard Surface node in the Octane Node Editor. The original Octane materials are available from the Octane Material node in the Octane node editor, via the Octane Material > Basic tab > Material Type dropdown menu:
