The Render AOV node connects to a Output AOV node. It can generate any type of AOV available in OctaneRender®. Before Octane v2026, it referenced AOVs generated from the nodes available in the traditional Render AOVs category where there must be corresponding AOVs for each Render AOV node connected to an Output AOV node (figure 1). Starting with OctaneRender v2026, AOVs nodes located in the traditional Render AOVs category do not need to be generated to match a corresponding Render AOV node used in the Output AOV compositing network. Nodes in the Output AOV category (specifically the Render AOV node) can now generate the underlying AOVs used for compositing (figure 2). This means that the process of creating AOVs located in the traditional Render AOVs category can be skipped entirely and all AOV passes can be generated by the Output AOV nodes alone.

Render AOV Parameters

Enable - Activates the render AOV.

Render AOV - Specifies an AOV to generate. As of Octane v2026, this parameter does not need a corresponding AOV node from the traditional Render AOV category.

Effects - Provides the ability to stack additional Output AOV nodes to this node using blending settings.

Blending Settings - Provides typical blending options used in the compositing process.
