Spectron is a procedural lighting system that lets you create procedurally-driven volumetric lighting - like spotlights - with blockers, barn doors, gels, etc. Spectron is exposed as a Procedural light node type, which you can use for quick volumetric effects and spotlight generation with new granular controls simulating all electromagnetic spectral phenomenon in Octane including: polarization, fluorescence and phosphorescence, complex layered substrates and porosity, diffractive optics, and relative doppler effect.. Spectron leverages the speed of AI to illuminate the scene quickly and with less noise than the original mesh-based lights that Octane otherwise employs. The Spectron light has five light types: Volumetric Spotlight, Quad, Sphere, Analytic, and Directional. The Spectron light can be added to a scene from the Octane shelf tab (figure 1).
