Tool Baked Image
The displacement function in OctaneRender® cannot utilize a Procedural texture map. The Baked Image node provides a way to bake procedural textures into an image to use as a displacement map. With this texture node, you can use the full power of procedural textures for displacement. The baking process uses the texture preview system, which appears like an image texture to the rest of the system. The baking is done whenever you change an input - it's calculated on-the-fly. The project doesn't store the internal image, so it needs to be recalculated whenever you load the project.
In Figure 1, the Baked Image node takes an input from any Procedural texture map, then it connects to a Displacement node, which connects to the Displacement pin on an Octane material.
