The Instance Range texture node functions in a similar way to the Instance Color texture node. The Instance Range texture generates a greyscale value with the Maximum ID range of 0 to the total number of instances, and OctaneRender® prepares this range to be mapped to geometric instance IDs. In figure 1, an Instance Range node is connected to a Gradient Map node that is then connected to a Glossy material.
