The Color Squares texture node generates a pattern of colored square shapes (figure 1). This node's output is similar to the Cell Noise node but with a different orientation for the squares. The parameters consist of UVW Transform and Projection inputs which can be used to edit the pattern's position and scale.

Color Squares Parameters

UVW Transform - Positions, scales, and rotates the surface texture.

Projection - Sets how the texture projects onto the surface. The projection default is the Mesh UV projection type which has a UV Set parameter to determine which UV set to use for projection. If other projection types are selected, additional parameters could include:

  • Coordinate Space - Determines the coordinate space for the texture map.
  • Use Rest Attribute - Prevents texture sliding, swimming, or distortion on animated and deforming meshes by locking coordinates to an base frame.
