VRAM Considerations/Usage Tips

As with all other aspects of Octane, VRAM plays a limiting factor with Octane Scatter, as all generated scatter objects need to fit into the available VRAM in order to be properly rendered. Some tips:

    • Keep the scattered objects as simple as possible.
    • For grasses and landscapes, consider the jigsaw approach: make low-polygon sections that can be scattered, as opposed to singular items, such as blades of grass.
    • Generators will consume VRAM; minimize their use if at all possible.
    • The most efficient cloner, outside of Octane Scatter, is the Cinema 4D Matrix object. Use the Matrix object inside of an Octane Scatter object for more detail.
