Sphere Light

The Sphere Light is essentially a geometric sphere with a DiffuseAmount of diffusion, or the reflection of light photons at different angles from an uneven or granular surface. Used for dull, non-reflecting materials or mesh emitters. material that has the Emission properties activated (Figure 1). It can be found in the Lights category of the Nodegraph Editor (Figure 2).

Sphere Light Parameters

Sphere Radius - Determines the size of the light source. The larger the source, the softer the shadows.

MaterialThe representation of the surface or volume properties of an object. - The material parameters consist of basic Diffuse material parameters. The only parameters in this category that will affect the light source can be found in the Emission rollout. Refer to the Texture Emission topic for more details on the following parameters.

Object Layer - Provides standard Object Layer parameters to control render visibility and light pass options.

Transformation - Provides standard transformation controls for placement and orientation of the light source.

The Sphere Light can be added to a scene through the use of a Geometry Group node (Figure 3).
