Geometry Exporter

 

The Geometry Exporter node is used to export scene elements out of Octane in either FBX.fbx (Filmbox) is a proprietary file format developed by Kaydara and owned by Autodesk since 2006. It is used to provide interoperability between digital content creation applications. As of Octane 3.07, a scene node will also be available as an FBX file, allowing for quick and easy transport of assets from industry standard DCC applications or AlembicAn open format used to bake animated scenes for easy transfer between digital content creation tools. format. The node can be found under the Other category in the Nodegraph Editor window (figure 1).

The Geometry Exporter node provides numerous parameters for exporting a scene in FBX or Almebic format (figure 2).

Geometry Exporter Parameters

Output File - Chooses the output path for either the FBX or Alembic file.

Export MaterialsA set of attributes or parameters that describe surface characteristics. - When exporting in FBX format, this option will also export additional nodes attached to material nodes.

Texture Quality - When exporting in FBX format and Export Materials is selected, this option determines the resolution of exported texture maps.

Perserve Octane MaterialThe representation of the surface or volume properties of an object. Data - When exporting in FBX format, this option will export Octane material types in their original format instead of converting all exported material types to Universal materials.
