Objects that are Supported

The current build of OctaneRender® for SideFX® Solaris™ supports most but not all Octane objects imported from the SOP environment. This might change as the plugin undergoes further development. The following Solaris-specific nodes can be used to import assets from the SOP environment.

Scene Import - Used to import specific objects from SOPs (OBJ network). Octane lights are not supported using this Solaris node.
Scene Import All - This Solaris node is the same as the Scene Import node but with an * specified in the Objects parameter, which allows the node to import all objects contained in the OBJ network. Octane lights are not supported using this Solaris node.
Scene Import Cameras - This Solaris node imports cameras found in the OBJ network.
Scene Import MaterialsA set of attributes or parameters that describe surface characteristics.
- Objects with emissive material assignments designed in the MAT network can be imported to LOPs but only through the Scene Import nodes.
- This Solaris node can import Octane-specific materials found in the MAT network.
Scene Import Lights
- This Solaris node does not support importing of Octane-specific lights from the OBJ network.
- OctaneRender^® does not support native Houdini lights in SOPs, however, the native Solaris lights are supported by Octane in the LOPs environment.
- Objects with emissive material assignments designed in the MAT network can be imported to LOPs but only through the Scene Import nodes.
- It is recommended to design illumination solutions in the Solaris (LOPs) environment instead of in the OBJ network (SOPs).
