Kernels

There are five major rendering kernels associated with Octane.

They are switchable by changing the Kernel Type from the Attribute Editor window, when the Kernel is selected in the Render Settings window (figure 1).

Render Kernel Parameters

The only attribute common to all the Kernel types is Maximum Samples. This attribute sets the maximum number of samples per pixel before the rendering process stops. Higher values result in cleaner renders. This attribute is directly connected with an identical attribute found under each of the Kernel type rollouts. If the value is changed for one of these attributes, the other will change as well.
