There are six types of lights in Octane for Maya®. You can access these lights from the Octane shelf (Figure 1), or from the Octane Nodes and Octane Emission categories in the Hypershade window (Figure 2).

By default, there are no lights in a scene and the scene will render pure black. An Octane-specific light needs to be added to a scene for rendering. Maya-specific lights will not render when using the Octane render engine.
