Instancing in Octane for Lightwave
Octane has a powerful instancing system, that allow add to the images a lot of instance of any object available in the scene.
Octane for Lightwave has been designed to use this feature in three levels:
- By defult plugin add all Lightwave clones available in the scene as Octane instances.
- User can use Null objects as instances. To instance any object available in the scene using a Null object, you only need to rename the null object with the name of the object you want to instance, adding “-” to the beginning of the name. For example if you have a tree object named “green_tree”, you can add to the scene a Null object named “-green_tree”, and Octane plugin is going to use this null as source for a instance of the tree object.
- Finally Octane for Lightwave support Lightwave 11+ instancing system. The workflow to work with instances in Lightwave 11+ is the same as using Lightwave native render engine. In Octane 2.0 there is a new instancing architecture (100 times faster than the old one) that supports the real time instancing preview in the window without reload scene or update instances transformations while rendering in “update scene” mode. Instances also supports full motion blur in Octane 2.0 but only for final rendering (instances motion blur is not supported in the IPR window).
