What Is OctaneRender® For Cinema 4D®

OctaneRender® for Maxon Cinema 4D® is a plugin that allows the use of Otoy®'s OctaneRender GPUThe GPU is responsible for displaying graphical elements on a computer display. The GPU plays a key role in the Octane rendering process as the CUDA cores are utilized during the rendering process. render engine directly inside the Maxon Cinema 4D layout. It supports OctaneRender real-time rendering using a custom Interactive Render Window and Picture Viewer.

When a render is started, all the data in the scene is collected and sent to the Octane Core Engine. The CPU and the Core Plugin play a major role at this point in the process. The CPU is still responsible for some things in Octane. A CPU with good performance shortens the scene export time and compilation process. After the scene data in Octane Core Engine is processed, the compilation process starts ("preparing" can be seen in the bottom left corner). Once this is done, the GPU engages and the "image sampling" starts. According to the Render settings and GPU specs, the FINAL output will be seen after the sampling is finished. The following diagram illustrates the process (figure 1).
