Gaussian Spectrum

The Gaussian Spectrum texture is based on a Gaussian distribution spectrum.  The wavelength is used to set the center of the spectrum and the width is used to set the width of the curve.  The narrower the width, the more pure and saturated the color. Figure 1 shows the Gaussian Spectrum node connected to the DiffuseAmount of diffusion, or the reflection of light photons at different angles from an uneven or granular surface. Used for dull, non-reflecting materials or mesh emitters. input of an Octane material.

Gaussian Spectrum Parameters

Wavelength

This represents the mean wavelength approximation between 380nm – 720nm. The lower wavelength values appear bluish while higher wavelengths (around700nm) appears reddish.

Width

sets the width of the spectrum, lower values result in a more saturated color.

Power

The brightness of the texture.
